Newsflash, 2013 is flying by! I can't believe I've just realized we're already at the end of January and I think I deserve an 'F' for staying on top of this blog.
On January 7th this lovely little annoucement ran in my parents newspaper, the Daily Herald. I can't help but feel like SATC's Charlotte York - sans the mustache.
The online announcement can also be found HERE
156 days to go, people!
January also kept us (temporarily) busy with football. Since my Chicago Bears playoff dreams were squashed, I had no other option than to root for my other orange and blue team, the Denver Broncos. Robyn hosted a playoffs party at her house and insisted we sport some sort of Bronco's gear to attend.
My Cleveland Browns fan, Nick, luckily was able to find a 'Broncos' shirt tucked in the back of his closet.
We all know how that day ended.
Finally - some skiing! @ Keystone.
The following week we head to NYC for a Digital Book World conference. The beauty of being in the publishing industry is we get to attend these awesome conferences + mingle with amazing authors. During some down time at the conference we went to see the play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, starring Scarlett Johansson.
So, here we are trying to get our art on and class it up on Broadway when about 15 minutes into the play there is a woman in the middle of our row who stands up and is trying to get out and to the door. As she walks past all of us, we realize, oh my god...
Could she really have?
Yes.
The woman pooped her pants.
I would never make this kind of thing up and put it on the internet.
It really happened and was really awful for all of us.
After intermission the woman COMES BACK with her son and asks the whole row if they will move down so she can have the aisle because 'her stomach was bothering her'. So, not only does some poor person have to take her old seat, but we are now sitting directly next to her.
All I can think of is this must be some sort of karma for something I've done in my life.
I'm a big sucker for musicals & stuff like this, and since leaving
Chicago I have been out of the loop so even if I sat through the whole thing with my nose pinched shut, it was still great to get in and see
this show.
Dear New York, please bring a Zara to Denver.
I NEVER skip a trip to Zara on any Chicago or NYC trip.
While in NY my sister told me their poor cat Jack had 3 bone fractures in his little chicken leg! Poor guy had to get a splint and an orange cast and now he walks with a peg leg :( This pic was just too good.
Back from New York I made my way to Breckenridge with Annie, Andy & their fabulous aunt Fancy and her son Austin. They rented this amazing condo and we played games, hot tubbed it and obviously, got our robes on...
@ Red Lion in Vail...photobombed
I went to sleep excited for our ski day the next day in Breck and woke up on my death bed. The influenza A got me. I've always refused the flu shot but after these past few weeks of getting my body back to normal working order, I tell you what - next year I will be more than happy for those nurses to stick me with a flu shot. Miserable.
I can't end this post on such a sad note.
Hmmm... what could turn this around?
That's better :) It's already been a great start to 2013 and I have a million things to look forward to this year...
